LEADING THE WAY TO COEXISTENCE IN HAND WITH THE COMMUNITY

The Seacow conservation team did not hesitate to support the Tortuguero Conservation Area and the participatory environmental monitoring group (MAP) in the creation of their official logo. “Helping the MAP kids gave me a lot of pleasure, to see kids who are even at social risk so involved with learning and conserving wildlife is very fulfilling”

Patricia Blanco-Murillo, Communications Coordinator.

“Being welcomed by the community, warms my heart. Even though I know there is a lot to be done, they feel accompanied and listen to, and that is the start of real community based conservation.” Sofia Pastor-Parajeles

Coordinator of Planning and Operation for Coexistence.

BASKETBALL AND SMALL CAT CONSERVATION?

As part of the community processes, the Oncilla Conservation team supported the youth basketball teams of the Herradura community with a new logo, uniforms, and a community mural that give identity and add to local efforts to achieve coexistence and visibility of our native species. CR Wildlife’s participation and support in these types of activities strengthens the relationship with local authorities, community members and other NGOs, which is key to implement conservation actions with greater impact and allies.
